The *NEWSLINE* Radio over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system automatically plays back the ARNewsLine audio for EchoLink, IRLP and other Amateur Radio VoIP systems. The home page for ARNewsLine is at www.arnewsline.org.
The *NEWSLINE* audio playback transmission will start automatically upon connecting. Playback transmission will pause ebout 10 seconds every 120 seconds to avoid transmitter timeouts and to allow station ID or local conntrol operator commands. After each playback pause, playback rewinds about 3 seconds upon resuming to prevent lost audio. When audio playback is complete the connection is dropped. Users may disconnect at any time.
The ARNewsLine is usually updated weekly on Thursday.
If you have questions about this VoIP audio service, please send an E-mail to WD5M@arrl.net
EchoLink nodes may connect to the conference *NEWSLINE* node number 6397.
IRLP nodes may connect to experimental IRLP node number 0016. IRLP node owners must enable experimental node access by editing the custom/environment file to include the line:
export ALLOW_EXPERIMENTAL_NODES=YES
Allstar nodes may connect to node 516228 in monitor mode to hear ARNewsline audio. Each connection should hear the complete ARRL Audio News without necessarily sharing the connection with other listening nodes.
Although nodes should automatically be disconnected when the audio news completes, monitor your connection and disconnect your node if necessary.
No conferencing or communication is provided between connected nodes. Each connected node hears a seperate copy of the audio stream. Echolink connections utilize the GSM CODEC. IRLP and other connections default to the uncompressed or u-law CODEC.
